Hi there! My name is Maggie,
a calendar-collecting, coffee-always-in-my-veins nature junkie with a love for all things poetry-related. I am a wildlife enthusiast, a certified A Sawyer, and an Indie Folk musicophile who strongly identifies with her horoscope sun in Cancer. I am also a creative writer and a conservationist—I graduated from the University of Virginia with honors as an English and Biology degree-holder, and currently work for the American Conservation Experience (ACE) as a Southwest Conservation Corps Member. I spend most of my time outside, and often use my day-to-day conservation fieldwork to inspire my writing.
“The environment is in us, not outside of us. The trees are our lungs, the rivers our bloodstream. We are all interconnected, and what you do to the environment ultimately you do to yourself.”Ian Somerhalder
The Origin of Lung Country
Lung Country, a virtual portfolio of all of my creative work, centers on the interwoven stories between humans and nature. I strive to evoke a strong sense of relevance and urgency in readers by bringing to life the rich physicality of the natural world. Ultimately, it is my passion to show that with environmental consciousness and sustainable action, there can be an efficacious and rewarding nexus between humans and nature.
